Kia ora koutou,

Aroha mai for the communication lapse last week as I was shifting house and had some pressing work deadlines.

Last weekend’s inaugural consultative Strategy hui in Whakatū and Wairau was, to me, a great success.  Often, Strategy development are referenced by their importance to the development of business plans and budgets.  The real importance of these sessions was the opportunity to listen and learn about the aspirations and thoughts on where we need to be going and how we should get there.  The sessions were both positive and pragmatic..

Our next hui are:

  • Heretaunga: Thursday 18 October, 6pm – 9pm, Takarangi Conference Room, Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga, 821 Orchard Road, Hastings
  • Horowhenua: Saturday 27 October, 10.30am – 1.30pm, Levin RSA, 32 Bristol Street, Levin
  • Te Whanga-nui-a-Tara: Sunday 28 October, 12.30pm – 3.30pm, Raumati Building, 24D Marine Parade, Hikoikoi Reserve, Petone

Marlborough District Council recently held a hui to discuss their new Resource Consent Management system.  Whilst this system looks good and will simplify the Consent and Response process, in my opinion there needs to be a mechanism for Iwi to recover our costs so that the statutory requirement for consultation is sustainable.  Investigating this will be a high priority in the coming months.

Finally, please note that nominations for the three Trustee positions close at noon on Thursday, 11 October.

Kia pai tō rā wiki
