Kia ora e te iwi,

It’s great to be back on Alert Level One.  As the COVID-19 economy starts to bite we will be looking into employment opportunities for Rangitāne in our rohe.  Part of the strategy is providing long term careers by working closely with local industry.  This includes developing training opportunities with organisations like the Marlborough Tour Company. We have been offered three positions on a Day Skipper’s Ticket course with MTC, applications close 26 June. If you or someone in your whānau want to apply email Donna at events@rangitane.org.nz or call our office.

By now most of you will have received your new Iwi Membership card.  If you haven’t received yours in the next couple of weeks please call the office and check we have your correct address.  Currently you can get discounted fares on the Interislander ferry, booking details are here on our website.   We will be seeking  discounts with various retailers and service providers in coming months.

The funding for the roll-out of our Tangata Rau, Reo Kotahi strategy is back on line.  Kereana, Donna and Jeremy are going to be busy with a few exciting new initiatives including a webinar series on language, history and culture, Te Puni Reo – language in homes, Kura Reo (January 2021) plus a series of wānanga throughout the country. More details to come once dates and details are confirmed.

We are in the process of organising the AGM which will be held at Ūkaipō on 10 October.  Given the uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions, the format this year might differ from the previous years.  This will be discussed at the next Trustees hui.

He konā mai

Nick
